High power laser beam (>1kW) in small beam diameters will cut through steel and even firebricks in a relatively short period of time. For very high power laser beam (>5kW), even large beam diameters have the potential to break through concrete. In these situations, ensuring safety would require using thicker steel walls or constructing larger rooms, making the entire system heavier and more expensive. The Active Laser Guarding System is an advanced solution based on multi-layer textile laser safety curtains combined with electronic induction device. If a laser beam strikes any part of the safety curtain, the electronic induction device detect the impact and generate a switch signal, shutting down the laser source through the interlock system within 120ms.
